The memio.sys process is a system driver file that is used by the Samsung Update Plus software together with Microsoft Windows and the associated firmware components and driver software utilities of supported Samsung devices that are connected to the Windows-based computer, specifically for implementing the automatic update searching functionalities of these Samsung firmware distributions and driver software packages into the system. The memio.sys process assists the system and these firmware components and drivers in initiating contact with Samsung servers, searching for available updates and upgrades for the installed Samsung firmware components and device driver utilities in the system, and prompting users to download and install these updates or upgrades (if any). The Samsung Update Plus software, upon its installation, places the memio.sys file in the system, which also means the memio.sys process is bundled into the installer distribution packages of the Samsung Update Plus software, and this program is normally packaged with the firmware components and driver software utilities of certain Samsung devices.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. memio.sys. is used by Samsung Update Plus, If you shut down memio.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop memio.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Samsung Update Plus, from your system.
