The mcvsftsn.exe file is an EXE application resource process that is deployed by the McAfee VirusScan software for implementing its Instant Messenger (IM) scanning functionalities into the Windows-based system. This means the mcvsftsn.exe process is specifically integrated as an executable component of the McAfee VirusScan Instant Messenger Scan module, which is an applet built into the McAfee VirusScan program, and this application is in turn included in the set of system security tools bundled into the McAfee Internet Security Suite software. The mcvsftsn.exe process is packaged into the installer distributions of the McAfee VirusScan program, which also means the mcvsftsn.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the McAfee VirusScan software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mcvsftsn.exe. is used by McAfee VirusScan and McAfee VirusScan Instant Messenger Scan Module and McAfee Internet Security Suite, If you shut down mcvsftsn.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mcvsftsn.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is McAfee VirusScan and McAfee VirusScan Instant Messenger Scan Module and McAfee Internet Security Suite, from your system.
