What is  mctray.exe

The file mctray.exe is part of McAfee Security Agent and Taskbar Extension, and this software was developed by McAfee. This program was designed to guard the user's PC from infiltration by malicious programs that may be capable of destroying data stored in the computer or may have functionalities that can steal private, confidential data from the user. These malicious applications may gather user details or Web browser cash data, for automatic transmission to a designated set of Web servers. The file can be usually found in the C: drive, under the Program Files folder, and the file could sometimes be found in the C: \ Program Files\Common Files directory. The file usually has the size of 86,016 bytes, and file sizes may vary in different versions of Microsoft Windows, such as in Windows XP and Windows 7. The file mctray.exe does not belong to the set of Windows core system files and is not integrated with any visible window or GUI (Graphical User Interface). The user may still have the option to remove the file by uninstalling the main program that is associated to this executable process. This removal process can be done by using the Add/Remove program utility of the Windows Control Panel.
