What is  mcods.exe

Mcods.exe is the executable file for McAfee On-Demand Scan, a security software responsible for controlling manual as well as scheduled virus scans. McAfee On-Demand Scan is reported to be an essential security software where users can select and configure anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall configurations to keep the system safe. It is a relentless security software that “familiarizes” itself with harmful data activity patterns in order to scan and blocks their dangerous content and intent over e-mails, web content, download content, and other online elements such as Trojans, rootkits, and spyware. Bundled with file scanning functions, On-Demand Scan tasks are configurable to scan the cookies and registry for PUPs or Potentially Unwanted Programs. The latest On-Demand Scan program versions have added scanning functions for USB devices as well as cleaning the registry and deleting harmful cookies while the computer is in stand-by or when files are not currently active. Its advanced feature is the renaming of a file in the USB if it cannot be cleaned.
