The service known as Spam Filter and which comes with executable file mantispm.exe is part of ZoneAlarm’s Security software. This is the main executable for the background task known as MailFrontier Desktop anti-spam filter. What this task does is to protect computers from inbound viruses generally sent via email. It also filters emails to determine which ones are legitimate and which ones are spam. The process however, is only applicable to Windows-based email services, in particular Microsoft Outlook. There were reports made by clients that the file is a resource hog, causing the computer to freeze or hang. General disk image path of the file is C:\Program Files\CheckPoint\ZoneAlarm\MailFrontier\mantispm.exe. Version 6, 3, 1, 4971 of the mantispm.exe file comes in a size of 913.81 KB. If the file is found to be causing computer freezes or hangs, or found to be the cause of other system issues; users generally disabled the file. Also, users who do not use MS Outlook likewise disable the file.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mantispm.exe. is used by Spam Filter, If you shut down mantispm.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mantispm.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Spam Filter, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
