The khatra.exe process is an executable file that has been reported by many users as a malicious application associated with the Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Autoit.k program, which is a known Trojan virus. The same user reports claim that the khatra.exe process can automatically initialize during system startup due to certain keys and entries it can inject into the Windows System Registry upon its successful placement and activation in a Windows-based system. Some users state that the khatra.exe process, upon its successful initialization during system startup, is capable of operating in the background undetected by the user, in order to search for vulnerable TCP/IP network ports that it can exploit and use to initiate contact with predesignated remote servers. Upon connecting to these Web servers that are managed and operated by the authors of this Trojan virus, the same users reported that the khatra.exe process then proceeds to download more malicious applications unto the system, in order to gather private user details and Internet browsing information from the infected system and its default Web browser, and these stolen pieces of data are then transmitted by the khatra.exe process to the remote servers of its authors.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. khatra.exe. is used by Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Autoit.k , If you shut down khatra.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop khatra.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Autoit.k , from your system.
