Verity K2 Toolkit, also called K2Server, is the service name given for the process k2server.exe, which is an executable or EXE file, and is a part of the software product known as Macromedia ColdFusion (version MX 7) or Adobe ColdFusion (version 8) or Verity K2 Toolkit, which is developed by Verity Inc. When the program that houses the file is downloaded onto the computer, the k2server.exe file is also installed into the system, where it stores itself in a file folder named C:\Program Files, and registered into the Windows registry with its own run identifier and execution command. Once downloaded, the k2server.exe file begins to run in the background, and execute or perform its function. As a Windows file, the k2server.exe module runs in versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems,including Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows ME, and it is recommended to keep it active in the background.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. k2admin.exe. is used by Macromedia ColdFusion (version MX 7) or Verity K2 Toolkit or Adobe ColdFusion (version 8 with JRun 4, 8), If you shut down k2admin.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop k2admin.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Macromedia ColdFusion (version MX 7) or Verity K2 Toolkit or Adobe ColdFusion (version 8 with JRun 4, 8), from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
