Called by the service names InstallShield Update Service Download Manager, or Macrovision Software Manager Download Manager, or Macrovision Update Service Download Manager, the isdm.exe process is a type of an executable or EXE file, and is a part of the program InstallShield Update Service, or Software Manager, or Macrovision Update Service, which is created by Macrovision, or InstallShield Software. Once the application is downloaded onto the computer, isdm.exe is automatically added and run in the background, since it registers itself into a Windows registry, and stores on a file folder location, usually in C:\Program Files, or C:\Documents and Settings, or C:\Windows. Since it is digitally signed (Acresso Software Inc. - VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer - G2), isdm.exe is considered to be a legitimate process, and a Windows file, which means it is compatible with some or all versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, like Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. isdm.exe. is used by InstallShield Update Service or Software Manager or Macrovision Update Service, If you shut down isdm.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop isdm.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is InstallShield Update Service or Software Manager or Macrovision Update Service, from your system.
