Hotspot Shield Helper Service, installed through executable file hsssrv.exe, is a component of the software Hotspot Shield. The software is published by AnchorFree Inc. This software allows users to create a Virtual Private Network so they can surf the Internet and do all their online activities without being exposed to unscrupulous characters online, waiting to victimize unwitting surfers. Put another way, the software masks the user’s IP address so they will be untraceable on the Internet. The software is free and can be downloaded from the Internet. With a VPN connection to the Internet, users can safely browse through the Web and do their online activities i.e. shopping and online banking, thereby greatly reducing the risk of having their identities stolen, as well as decreasing their vulnerability online. The standard location of the file is C:\Program Files\Hotspot Shield\HSSWPR\hsssrv.exe. File size is approximated to be around 433.36 KB. Original file name of the process is HssSrv.exe. The file uses the Microsoft executable services.exe to load its process.
