Many users reported that the hqn_lsd.exe process is associated with Harlequin License Server. It is neither one of those processes that passes its results unto the registry, nor is the hqn_lsd.exe file a core Windows process. However, this file appears to be an important process, and any removal of the program or any corruption of the data stored in the hqn_lsd.exe file is likely to produce a number of error messages and system stoppages. This file is believed to run parallel to other processes to enhance their operation, but no specific action has been observed to be connected to this process. Since it is not central to the operation of the operating system, the hqn_lsd.exe process has been reported by many users to be used as a vehicle for malware attacks – creating error messages and hardware failures at its simplest, and delivering sensitive data to other servers at their worst.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hqn_lsd.exe. is used by MLWorks programs, If you shut down hqn_lsd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hqn_lsd.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is MLWorks programs, from your system.
