The hpwntbx.exe file is the process called Toolbox for HP Printing System for Windows that is part of the application HP Printing System for Windows created by Hewlett-Packard Company. This program uses an icon on the taskbar. It is not a core file for Windows. HP Printing System offers high-impact color to business documents with cost-effective printers. It provides replacement ink cartridges with low cost and high capacity to reduce intervention and provide consistent print quality with lowest cost per page. Separate, long-lasting print heads also contribute to economical design by being able to retain it while replacing an empty cartridge. The HP Smart printing technology enables the printer to adjust HP print supplies automatically to produce the best print quality. It alerts you automatically when the HP ink cartridge is running low or out of ink. It also lets you create two-sided documents using two-sided printing unit or duplexer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hpwntbx.exe. is used by HP Printing System for Windows, If you shut down hpwntbx.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hpwntbx.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HP Printing System for Windows, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
