The h91746.exe file is a process used by the application HijackThis authored by Merijn Bellekom and later acquired by Trend Micro. It is not a system process. It is not a core file for Windows. The program does not have a visible window. It connects to the Internet or LAN using ports. HijackThis or HiJackThis or HJT is an open source software. It is an enumerating utility for Windows. It is known for detecting browser-hijacking methods instead of relying on the database of known spyware. It quickly scans the computer to show the locations of the browser hijacking activities and their entries. Its main purpose is to diagnose browser hijacking because uninformed use of removal applications may cause damage to the software. HijackThis does not detect or remove spyware. It only lists the common locations of the browser hijacking activity in plain text log file.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. h91746.exe. is used by HijackThis, If you shut down h91746.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop h91746.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HijackThis, from your system.
