The file gkprobe.exe, known as Mobile Guardian Gatekeeper probe, belongs to software Mobile Guardian Gatekeeper by Credant. This solution works on the device on which it is installed by automatically detecting, controlling, and protecting information stored in mobile devices. The application relates to the data encryption software from Credant Technologies for laptops, and USB encryption to CD-DVD recorders, iPods and Smartphones. The Credant Mobile Guardian supports industry standard algorithms including FIPS 140-2 validated AES 128 and AES 256 and is compatible with existing disk recovery, maintenance, and forensic tools. It features multiple levels of access, device, and end-user control with flexible password parameters, integration with Cisco NAC, and communication port controls for IR and Bluetooth for PDAs. The GateKeeper provides secure distributed communication between LANDesk Data Protection Shield and LANDesk Data Protection for transparent delivery and management of policy and software updates.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gkprobe.exe. is used by Mobile Guardian Gatekeeper, If you shut down gkprobe.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gkprobe.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Mobile Guardian Gatekeeper, from your system.
