Ask Toolbar, also known as Ask.com Toolbar, or Search-Results Toolbar, or Avira SearchFree Toolbar, is the service name of the process genericasktoolbar.dll, which is a type of an executable (EXE) file, and is a part of the program Ask Toolbar, sometimes referred to as Toolbar, or Avery Toolbar, which is developed by Ask or Ask.com. As its name suggests, Ask Toolbar is a web browser plug-in toolbar that appears on the Internet browser, and is installed when some associated programs are downloaded onto the computer, laptop, or notebook. This toolbar does not just allow a user to instantly type in the search engine, but also monitor the search queries, as well as browsing activities or habits, so it sends to targeted ads, then modify results and search settings. In addition to that, genericasktoolbar.dll has a digital signature from the same manufacturing company (Ask.com - Symantec Time Stamping Services Signer - G3), which is advisable to keep it running in the background.
