The file gdihook.dll, known as GDI32/ WMF Patch, belongs to software GDI32 - WMF Patch by Future Time S.r.l. The software patch is software designed to fix identified problems or bugs, or update a computer program and its supporting data. Patches are issued primarily to fix security vulnerabilities and other bugs, and to improve the usability or performance of the file. The GDI32 - WMF Patch was issued to address the vulnerability located in gdi32.dll that existed in all versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows 3.0 to Windows Server 2003 R2. This vulnerability is called the Windows Metafile vulnerability, which is a security vulnerability that allows an arbitrary code to be executed in affected computers without the permission of the user. The vulnerability is an inherent defect in the design of WMF files because it includes features that allow actual code to be executed whenever a WMF file opens.
