The GDI32 - WMF Patch was issued to address the vulnerability located in gdi32.dll that existed in all versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows 3.0 to Windows Server 2003 R2. This vulnerability is called the Windows Metafile vulnerability, which is a security vulnerability that allows an arbitrary code to be executed in affected computers without the permission of the user. The vulnerability is an inherent defect in the design of WMF files because it includes features that allow actual code to be executed whenever a WMF file opens. The original purpose of these vulnerable files is to cancel print jobs during spooling.
