The file gamdrv.exe appears to be part of software Mylex Global Array Manager. Global Array Manager (GAM) is a robust and complete client/server storage management application that can be used for monitoring, managing and configuring Mylex controlled storage either locally or remotely through standard TCP/IP connections. GAM features include array configuring, which is a significant breakthrough for RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) that is a storage technology that combines multiple disk drive components into a logical unit. GAM employs RAID Assist, which is a wizard for configuring sophisticated arrays that approaches RAID configuration from the view point that the system administrator might not be familiar with the strategies and terminologies associated with RAID. Configuration assisted by RAID Assist reduces the typical learning curve associated with RAID to a simpler process with progress that can be tracked on the wizard's clipboard.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gamdrv.exe. is used by Mylex Global Array Manager, If you shut down gamdrv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gamdrv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Mylex Global Array Manager, from your system.
