What is  folders.exe

The folders.exe process is reported to be the executable program dispatcher of a possibly malicious application. Some user reports claim that the folders.exe process implements a set of functionalities that are associated with virus-like activity. A few users reported that the folders.exe process contains program logic data that consists of sequential lines of commands and directives that instruct the system to allow downloading procedures for pornographic content from predesignated Web servers without the user's consent. These pornographic materials, as a few users claimed, are distributed to the email and IM (Instant Messaging) contacts of the user. A few users also reported that the folders.exe process can gather Web browsing data from an infected computer and transmit the collected information to predesignated servers on the Internet.
