The fbagent.exe process is the executable file for the System32 program of the Windows operating system in every Asus computer, with the name Asus Autoupdate Agent. Its system tray icon in the notification bar allows the programmer to activate automatic updates for the BIOS and firmware devices in the PC such as the Ethernet and WiFi LANs, Bluetooth, graphics board, mouse and mousepad, webcam, battery checker, smartcard reader, and energy management schemes, among others. By default, ASUS users are allowed to check for updates on a day-to-day basis, but with the rarity of updates (including the initial installation after purchase), updates can be set up once a month (including the automatic boot on Startup) as the user prefers. These settings can be launched manually or set on automatic, and save boot time. In addition, these updates and settings can be safely removed from among the auto-started programs, and exit settings from there.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. fbagent.exe. is used by Asus Autoupdate Agent, If you shut down fbagent.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop fbagent.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Asus Autoupdate Agent, from your system.

Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message.
