The file esigil.dll, known as Verification Engine, belongs to software Verification Engine by Comodo CA. Verification Engine from Comodo is free software that help users to identify legitimate websites and websites that are phony or spurious. This free multi-browser supports Internet Explorer, AOL, Netscape, Firefox, and Mozilla, and is an innovative tool for detecting phishing sites. This identity assurance tool helps users differentiate the legitimate and the fraudulent or dubious sites when surfing or doing online transactions. The Verification Engine enabled browser provides the user with useful information about internet sites. By moving the mouse over the logo or any log-in box for verification, the Verification Engine will show a green border around the browser, which means that the site is safe. For sites that are fraudulent or suspected to be phishing sites, the browser will not show the green border.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. esigil.dll. is used by Verification Engine, If you shut down esigil.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop esigil.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Verification Engine, from your system.
