The file eggdrop.exe relates to the process Eggdrop from a group known as eggheads. Eggdrop is a popular and advance IRC (Internet Relay chat) bot. The IRC channel is a protocol for live interactive text messaging, chat, or synchronous conferencing that is designed for group communication in discussion forums or channels, which also allow one-on-one private messages, chat and data transfer, and file sharing. An IRC bot is a program that sits in an IRC channel around the clock, keeping it open 24 hours a day. It appears like a normal user on the channel and remains idle until it is called upon to perform a particular function. An IRC bot like eggdrop that is called by the file eggdrop.exe contributes to the stability of the channel by protecting it from abusers and takeovers, and provides a central location for storage of the channel op list. The eggdrop bot provides support for multiple channels, an advanced and flexible userfile extension, and a botnet support that allows users to link multiple bots to create a botnet and synchronize userfiles with automatic userfile setting.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. eggdrop.exe. is used by Eggdrop, If you shut down eggdrop.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop eggdrop.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Eggdrop, from your system.
