The file edsservice.exe, known as eData Security Service, belongs to software Acer eData Security Management by HiTRSUT. Acer eData Security Management is security software that provides users with password protection for confidential files and encryption security for emails and instant messages sent through the Internet. This program requires the user to initialize the program and set-up a user password to initialize a Personal Security Disk (PSD). For additional user identification, the system requires the authorized user to enter an email address. Only the user who knows the password can access the folders and files saved in the PSD. For added security, documents can be encrypted using a file encryption and decryption tool that is integrated in the right-click context menu of Microsoft Windows. This tool is also accessible using Windows Explorer as two buttons (Encrypt File and Decrypt File) in the top right hand side of the window.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. edsservice.exe. is used by Acer eDataSecurity Management, If you shut down edsservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop edsservice.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Acer eDataSecurity Management, from your system.
