Backup Exec Agent Browser is the service term of the process benetns.exe, a type of executable file, and most importantly, a part of the software VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows Servers, or VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows NT, which is created by VERITAS Software, but this file is similar with the product developed by Symantec Corporation called Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers. VERITAS Backup Exec is basically compatible with three certain Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, namely Windows NT, particularly NT4, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2000. Other than that, the software product is a type of backup application, which enables the Backup Exec Engine, the kind of process that backs up, so any available Backup Exec Agents on the network, including end-user workstations, are discovered. The file benetns.exe is an important component, and must not be removed, because it is digitally signed by Symantec Corporation - VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer.
