The bcmsmmsg.exe file is background task program that mostly supports systems in which the Internet connection used is a dial-up connection. It is a background task that is needed to run the BCM voice modem driver. The bcmsmmsg.exe process was created by the Broadcom Corporation which supports the use of BCM voice modem drivers which aids in launching them. This EXE file automatically runs upon the startup system and uses less memory in order to prevent the performance of the operating system from slowing down upon Windows start up, however, the bcmsmmsg.exe file is not associated with the Microsoft Windows Operating System. The file bcmsmmsg.exe can be viewed only through the Task Manager because it does not have its own active window. The Task Manager shows the users the specific tasks running on their respective PCs. The users can set the bcmsmmsg.exe process manually since it is not always necessary to be operating. It is advisable to not terminate the bcmsmmsg.exe file as it may cause malfunction in the voice modem when done so.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. bcmsmmsg.exe. is used by BCM Voice Modem Driver, If you shut down bcmsmmsg.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop bcmsmmsg.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is BCM Voice Modem Driver, from your system.
