The executable process file, backservice.exe (version 1.0.4.0) is identified as Splashtop Connect BackService that is part of the software, Splashtop Connect Service or Splashtop Connect as developed by the Company, Splashtop (formerly known as DeviceVM Inc.). Further to this, the process file backservice.exe runs as a background Windows service called, “SCBackService” (Splashtop Connect Service). It is executed with several functions, which include as a computer in the network and it runs as a program that can be executed by the Service Controller. Several Windows Operating Systems that it runs on the process file includes Microsoft Windows XP (5.1.2600.196608) and Windows 7 Home Premium (6.1.7601.65536). The process file, backservice.exe has no visible window, neither is it considered as a Windows system file. It has a digital signature and is a Verisign signed file. The process file is found to be located in the subfolder of C:\Program File with the directory of %PROGRAMFILE%\Splashtop\Splashtop Connect. On Windows 7 or XP, it has a file size of 477,000 bytes.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. backservice.exe. is used by Splashtop Connect Back Service, If you shut down backservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop backservice.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Splashtop Connect Back Service, from your system.
