The atrack.exe process file functions as Alert Tracker utility of Norton Internet Security program that belongs to Norton Personal Firewall. The process file supports Alert Tracker by displaying information pertaining to activities that are detected by the Norton Personal Firewall. The process also immediately alerts the user when Internet connection is accessed. The executable file operates automatically upon startup and can be found in the Task Manager under processes. Its location is in the folder C:\Program Files\Norton Personal Firewall. It consumes about 145 Kb of RAM [Random Access Memory]. You can check its CPU usage by viewing the Task Manager Console. The process is not associated with Windows operating system even though it runs compatibly with the program. The atrack.exe file does not have any conflict with other drivers or applications. Symantec Corporation authored the Norton Personal Firewall. The firewall program blocks worms, spyware, adware and Trojans. It looks for any text that may be associated with ads. It also blocks the display of the Web page.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. atrack.exe. is used by Alert Tracker for Norton Personal Firewall, If you shut down atrack.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
