The process atmeltpm.sys belongs to the Atmel TPM Driver by Atmel. It is a driver file for the TPM or the Trusted Platform Module by Atmel in which it enhances the security from hardware or software based attacks on a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet. The file can be found in the System32/drivers folder of the Windows XP/7 operating system. The atmeltpm.sys is not a Windows core file, or a file that is essential to the basic functions of the Windows operating system, thus it is safe to remove and to uninstall. The process can be stopped from the Services through the Control Panel and can be completely uninstalled through the Add/Remove Program options. The Trusted Platform Module is a hardware installed in a gadget to minimize security risks, but uninstallation of the driver may make it unusable and more vulnerable to hardware or software attacks.
