What is atkacpi.sys
The process atkacpi.sys belongs to the ATK0100 or ATK0110 ACPI Utility by ASUSTek COMPUTER INC. The file can be found in the System32/drivers folder of the Windows XP/7 operating systems. The atkacpi.sys is a driver file that allows the operating system to gain access to the BIOS. It also enables the use of the hotkeys from the keyboard. The file lets the user run BIOS adjustments over the operating system, without the need to enter BIOS. The process can be enabled or disabled from the Services though the Control Panel. The atkacpi.sys is not a Windows core file which makes it safe to be uninstalled and disabled. If the process is disabled or uninstalled, some features, like using hotkeys and overclocking may not run. The process may be vulnerable to possible virus or attacks because it is a compressed file.
