The executable process file asd.exe, is identified as a non-system process, with a variety of names including that of being a Windows process belonging to the Adtech advertising program, a process file known as Created that is part of the software Unbekannt by Volks as developed by Aytug or System restore, and is also recognized as the product, Active Shutdown, that goes by the description of Handy tool for quick Windows shut down as created by the Company, Smartline, Inc.. The process name, asd.exe, has a process name Adware.W32.ASD, which is determined to go by the name Anvi Smart Defender as developed by the Company Anvisoft. It has features such as that of being able to hide itself, therefore is considered not to have a visible window, is not a Windows system file and is not CPU intensive. The process file asd.exe is commonly located in C:\ found in C:\Windows\ system 32\as.exe folder with the directory of %PROGRAMFILE%\ Anvisoft\ Anvi.Smart Defender. The memory file size on Windows 7 or XP is at 179,712 bytes occurring at 33%, 179,660 bytes or 176,128 bytes. The process file is furthermore found running in the Task Manager as the process asd.exe which functions as having the ability to monitor and track browsing habits, distributing data for analysis, back to the authors’ servers, and this also shows advertising popup alerts.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. asd.exe. is used by Anvi Smart Defender, If you shut down asd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop asd.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Anvi Smart Defender, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Anvi Smart Defender, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
