What is apwiz.dll
The apwiz.dll process file is also known as Snapin Extension. This program file is embedded with compatibility support for widely used versions of Microsoft Windows. The software installation consists of three processes, and these are the Preinstallation activities, Installation process, and Post installation activities. These processes are to be followed in order for the system to be completed and be run and function in a normal mode. A snap-in extension is applied after executing proper installation of software. The snap-in extension adds items to the namespace of the extended snap-ins. Some of the items which can be added include context menu items, taskpad tasks, toolbar buttons, property pages, and others. The apwiz.dll or the Software Installation and Snapin Extension are located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. This file is also a Browser Helper Object (BHO). The apwiz.dll can be found inside a Windows folder but it is not considered as one of the Windows core files.
