The file amsg.exe is part of the software for Lenovo ThinkVantage Message Center. The process provides alert messages to users regarding the latest additions to Lenovo’s roster of products, available updates and upgrades, and news or announcements from the company. The file likewise provides helpful hints and tips for Lenovo ThinkVantage software. Basically, these alert messages are displayed whenever the user is on the Internet. This is not a critical component of the software, and is also not a vital system process. If the user wishes to disable the file, it can be done with no negative effects on the system or other PC processes. The file runs as a background task and generally starts to execute when the system is loaded during boot-up. The typical disk location of the file is C:\Program Files\ThinkVantage\AMSG\amsg.exe.
