The process with the filename of alcmtr.exe is part of the software for Realtek audio cards. Process name is Realtek AC97 Audio-Event Monitor, with a file description of Realtek Azalia Audio Event Monitor. The process basically monitors your Realtek sound cards, and looks for possible issues that may come about. The file is enabled when you boot-up your system, and stays running in the background until you shut down the PC. While this file is not in itself a type of malware that can harm your computer system, the file has nevertheless been considered by a good number of users as being a file that the computer is best without. This is because the process appears to monitor the activities of the user, to get information about Realtek clients and their behavior on the computer. Since this is not the main executable file for Realtek audio cards, a lot of users have disabled the file to prevent it from monitoring their activities.
