Afterfx.exe is a process called Adobe After Effects that supports the application of the same name from Adobe Systems, Inc. The said program, which contains about 201 binary file, allows user to apply graphical effects and visual enhancement of a movie or a video file. It also allows modification of any graphical or video file as prompted by the user. The main function of the executable program afterfx.exe is to pull up the Adobe After Effects application window and can be located at the program files folder of the local drive directory. Without this file running, the application will still be able to perform its function since it doesn't interfere with any core file of the program. File size of this executable application ranges from 137 KB to 185 KB. This file is not connected with any core files of windows or any operations system. When initiated, this executable program runs the application and supports the initialization for the user.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. afterfx.exe. is used by Adobe After Effects CS5, If you shut down afterfx.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop afterfx.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Adobe After Effects CS5, from your system.
