Called by the service name Adobe Updater, the process adobe_updater.exe, which is an executable or EXE file, is a component of the software product labeled as Adobe Reader, which is a type of document management application created by Adobe Systems Inc. What the Adobe Updater or technically the adobe_updater.exe file does is to provide updates for the software that houses it, and a user is able to install those recommended updates for the improvement of the program. This process is also responsible in checking and installing updates based on internal schedule. As digitally signed by Adobe Systems Incorporated - VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer - G2, adobe_updater.exe is an essential part of the program, and must remain stored or running in the background of a computer system. It is not advisable to delete or terminate adobe_updater.exe, because it disables its function within the program. In addition, adobe_updater.exe is installable in most versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. adobe_updater.exe. is used by Adobe Reader, If you shut down adobe_updater.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop adobe_updater.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Adobe Reader, from your system.
