The activmon.srv process, also known as the Active Monitore Server, was a component of the program Lotus Sametime, created by Ubique. The Lotus Sametime program was acquired by IBM and was renamed to IBM Lotus Sametime. The Lotus Sametime was a client-server application which gives users of a business the capability to communicate with each other in real time. Lotus Sametime was not standalone software. It was considered middleware since its capability is only limited through an installation of an IBM Sametime plugin. And it also takes advantage of other applications to use the program. The Lotus Sametime is fully business integrated, which means that administrators and employees can interact through instant messaging, online conferences, data and information sharing, and scheduling and attendance checking. It integrates with other Lotus software as well as Microsoft Office for sharing and creating collaboration documents in real time.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. activmon.srv. is used by ubique ams or Adobe Shockwave, If you shut down activmon.srv, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop activmon.srv, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ubique ams or Adobe Shockwave, from your system.
