RVT Files are Architectural design project created with Revit, a building information modeling (BIM) program; includes a 3D building design that may contain floor plans, elevations, sections, which can all be viewed on the fly as a fully rendered 3D scene; also includes project settings and related data.

You can use the below programs to open it:

1. AutoDesk Architecture 2016 
2. AutoDesk Revit Structure 2016

Looks to me that "em" is the file type and -RVT is a parameter value.
