The ziptoa.exe executable is a component of the ZipToA driver included with the IomegaWare software which is programmed by Iomega to add support for dated Iomega-manufactured zip drives. This allows them to work in some more modern operating systems. A Problem associated with Iomega Zip drives is the inability of a computer to detect the drive through plug-and-play capability because of the loss of compatible drivers in some operating systems. The ziptoa.exe executable specifically focuses on Iomega Zip ATAPI drives. Through the ziptoa.exe executable driver, the computer’s BIOS will see an Iomega Zip ATAPI drive as a compatible floppy drive. Iomega developed the software in response to users who are still using Iomega Zip ATAPI drives because regular drivers do not have sufficient support for Iomega drives. Iomega included the drivers, together with some tools for Zip ATAPI drives such as read/write protection and copy disk capability in the software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ziptoa.exe. is used by ZipToA, If you shut down ziptoa.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ziptoa.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ZipToA, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as ZipToA, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
