The process executed by the file xaudio.exe is a component of SoftK56 Modem. Installed through the modem driver, Modem Audio Service is an application that transforms a regular modem into a speaker phone. Although the file is most commonly associated with Conexant System modems, there are other modem brands that are now also utilizing the application. There are also select laptop brands and models that have the application already integrated into the machine’s bundled applications. You can find the file saved in the following path: C:\Windows\System 32\DRIVERS\xaudio.exe. This is not a core Windows file, but is essential to keep, in order to have your modem up and running. Users can decide whether they want to run it upon launching Windows or prevent it from doing so. Private memory utilization averages at 772 KB, while working set memory is pegged at 132 KB. The process runs as a Windows service, and uses the 32-bit platform.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. xaudio.exe. is used by Conexant Modem, If you shut down xaudio.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop xaudio.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Conexant Modem, from your system.
