What is wuaclt.exe
Wuaclt.exe is the process file for Microsoft Windows Update Client, a software which accesses product and software updates through remote service in another computer. It automatically checks for new Internet Explorer versions, and the new versions of Malicious Software Removal Tool. Wuaclt.exe requires WinHTTP or Microsoft Windows HTTP Services to scan for updates available, and uses the BITS or Background Intelligent Transfer Service to download the updates. The Windows HTTP Services and the BITS run together independent of Internet Explorer. They detect available proxy servers in the particular environment. The Windows Update Client can disable access to the Windows Update to replace it with Microsoft Update access, an expanded version which provides updates for the Internet Explorer and the operating system, as well as for other software running such as Microsoft Office, the Windows Live applications, and the Microsoft Expression Studio. These updates are provided over the Internet connection. However, there is a provision for the updates to be installed in computers even without Internet connection.
