Otherwise known as WRTray, the wrtray.exe process is an instance of a Windows program and an executable file, but most importantly a component of Webroot Security Tray Application, or a part of the security software called Spy Sweeper, which is created by Webroot Software. Spy Sweeper is used to detect viruses and spyware then removes them, to avoid causing danger to the computer system, by examining the PC’s hard drive, file folders, Windows registry, as well as cookies. This is the main objective of the software, with the help of the different components, which include wrtray.exe that acts the tray icon application. In fact, this application, or wrtray.exe, is used for different products related to Webroot Security software. Its primary task is to show all essential information regarding the status of the security program installed and used on the computer, and has the ability to access the graphical user interface (GUI), scans security threats, and updates manually.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. wrtray.exe. is used by Webroot Security Tray Application, If you shut down wrtray.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
