The wecpupdate.exe file is the process file of Windows Essentials Codec Pack, a collection of video and audio digital data signals, the program software developed by Microsoft Corporation. WECP for short, Windows Essentials Codec Pack is a comprehensive suite of Media Media Codecs, Splitters, Filters, and other downloadable audio/video tools users enjoy playing and viewing offline. WECP’s powerful filters enhance the audio and video qualities complete with automatic online update services keeping the computer updated with the newest software upgrades available. WECP’s enhanced features are visible through its components menu, enhanced audio and video decoder settings, volume mixer complete with enabled normalization. WECP is compact and clean, and has no viruses/adware/spyware, and it is 100% free. WECP is easy to use from downloading to installing to playing. Windows Essentials is designed to fix itself of errors and compatibility conflicts on the software by other codec packs that may routinely install overlapping or obsolete codecs.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. wecpupdate.exe. is used by Windows Essentials Codec Pack, If you shut down wecpupdate.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop wecpupdate.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Windows Essentials Codec Pack, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Windows Essentials Codec Pack, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.

The first thing you should do if wecpupdate.exe. is causing errors on your computer is to run a Windows registry scan with Registry Reviver If you are still seeing errors after this you should uninstall the program that wecpupdate.exe, belongs to, in this case Windows Essentials Codec Pack
