What is  wdfme.exe

The process that gets installed on the computer when you install the driver for your Western Digital hard drive is known as WD Smartware, with executable file wdfme.exe. The file functions as a backup service. It runs in the background while you are using your PC, and works on backing up your files based on format and category, i.e. photos, music, and such. The file therefore runs a very helpful service, except that it has been reported to manipulate CPU memory. What users discovered is that, the backup process is an ongoing process, for as long as you are on the computer. It will keep doing its function for the whole duration of your PC usage. Users also found out that disabling the file, or not utilizing it at all, did nothing to prevent it from running in the background. When you boot-up your system, it will run once again, and persistently do its job of backing up files. The only solution users found to have solved the issue is completely uninstalling the file.
