The wanmpsvc.exe file is a type of Windows module known by the name Wan Miniport ATW Service, which is a component of America Online WAN Miniport (ATW) Service or AOL Wan Miniport (ATW) Service, and developed by America Online, Inc., popularly known as AOL. This executable file is a part of a network application that requires the use of the Internet or local area network (LAN). Once the service connection of AOL is used, this module becomes essentially important and necessary. This has to be left running in the background of a computer and remain stored on its folder or directory location on the system. Deleting or stopping the wanmpsvc.exe file may disable the software and cannot provide connection. Unless a user likes or prefers to uninstall the Wan Miniport ATW Service, this particular file must not be removed at all. Also, if the program is having errors, there can be problem with this module, or other files that call for it.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. wanmpsvc.exe. is used by WAN Miniport (ATW) Service, If you shut down wanmpsvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop wanmpsvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is WAN Miniport (ATW) Service, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as WAN Miniport (ATW) Service, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
