The upgrader.exe process is an EXE program file bundled with other executable application resource processes, some system driver components, certain Dynamic Link Library (DLL) modules, specific background process items and various associated components that are required by Panda software products. These applications are Windows programs classified as system security tools developed by Panda Software International with a set of features for monitoring, detecting and protecting Windows-based systems against hacker attacks, backdoor rootkits and data security risks, user privacy threats or system stability problems that can be caused by various malware programs like spyware applications, viruses, worms, Trojans and obtrusive adware components among other malicious code. The upgrader.exe process is specifically deployed as a component of the Panda Updates module, which is an applet built into these Panda system security programs. This module is responsible for automatically initiating contact with Panda Web servers when actively running in the system, in order to find available updates and upgrades for the Panda applications that are installed in the system. When found, this module then alerts and promts the user to download and install the available upgrades and updates. The upgrader.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation and configuration of these Panda software products. These applications that use the upgrader.exe process and the Panda Updates module include the Panda Internet Security software, the Panda platinum program and the Panda Global Protection application.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. upgrader.exe. is used by Panda Internet Security and Panda Platinum and Panda Global Protection, If you shut down upgrader.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop upgrader.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Panda Internet Security and Panda Platinum and Panda Global Protection, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Panda Internet Security and Panda Platinum and Panda Global Protection, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
