Called by its service name Acer Update Service, also Acer Updater Service, or simply Updater Service, the updaterservice.exe file is a Windows process that is part of the program Acer Updater, also eMachines Updater, or Gateway Updater, which is manufactured by Acer Group. Acer Update Service is one of the program pre-installed on most Acer computers, laptops, and notebooks, which is used to provide notification of updates for the different Acer software products, which a user may install or not. Many applications by Acer for its own computers and laptops have a very short life cycle, and only updated with newer and much better versions, to provide a more enhanced list of features and advanced functions. This is the reason why Acer PCs or laptops do have Updater Service, which is launched by the file updaterservice.exe, to notify the user any new available versions to download on his or her computer. To ensure updates are received, the updaterservice.exe file must be running on the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. updaterservice.exe. is used by Acer Updater, If you shut down updaterservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop updaterservice.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Acer Updater, from your system.

Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
