The updatechecker.exe file is more commonly known by the name UpdateChecker MFC Application, a part of the program UpdateChecker Application, or Update Checker for its short name, which is a product of FileHippo.com. This add-on and plugin program scans computer for any applications installed and diagnoses new versions by sending all information to the database of FileHippo.com, that is whenever there are new updates or releases found. If those versions of programs are proven to be new and safe, the user is provided a notification, which is displayed in the browser, and he or she has the option to download it or not. Update Checker is consisted of many processes, but updatechecker.exe is the major file, so this is very essential that must be kept running in the system. Moreover, this application is compatible with most Microsoft Windows operating systems, such as Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. updatechecker.exe. is used by UpdateChecker Application, If you shut down updatechecker.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop updatechecker.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is UpdateChecker Application, from your system.
