The executable file unrar.exe is part of the software for WinRar, an archiving tool used for compressing and uncompressing RAR files that is generally utilized through the command-line mode of the PC, or in other words, through Windows console. The file unrar.exe is used for uncompressing or extracting files from a RAR archive. This file is generally offered for free. You may also find providers that offer a 40-day trial of their WinRar software. The file has a standard disk location of C:\Program Files\WinRar\unrar.exe. File size is usually around 204,288 bytes. Users are warned against finding the file in a folder or directory that is not the default location of the file. If this is the case, and the user has no recollection of ever downloading the file and installing it, then there is a possibility that the file is an illegitimate copy of the original. In such instances, the AV program installed on the PC should be able to immediately detect the malicious file and take the necessary action to prevent it from infecting the computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. unrar.exe. is used by unRAR for Windows, If you shut down unrar.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop unrar.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is unRAR for Windows, from your system.
