The umxagent.exe file is known by the name eTrust Event Manager, or HIPS Event Manager, and a component of eTrust Firewall, also in Tiny Desktop Firewall and, which are all products created by Computer Associates International, Inc. eTrust Firewall is a type of firewall software that protects the system of a computer from malicious and dangerous codes, or any intrusions that can put risk to the system. What is distinctive about the eTrust Firewall software is that a user can easily manage and configure the features. This program is certainly an essential PC application, because it helps protect the system, along with the files and other software installed in it. Moreover, this software that houses the umxagent.exe is compatible with Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and other new or later versions of Windows OS. To enable this security software, the umxagent.exe file has to continuously run in the background.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. umxagent.exe. is used by eTrust Firewall, If you shut down umxagent.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
