Ucgather.exe is a file associated with the software IBM Update Connector. Like any other executable file, ucgather.exe loads upon startup of the computer and launches the software from which it belongs. Once running, the user can see it on the Task Manager. It will activate the functionalities of IBM Update Connector software. These functionalities provide the user access to the features of the software. The ucgather.exe file enables the user to call on a set of features the software has. It is installed along with an IBM device which contains an update connector. The IBM device works efficiently with the Update Connector. Disabling the EXE file might disrupt the performance of the software and the device itself. The EXE file uses only a portion of the computer resources and its memory storage in order to function. So as long as an IBM device is attached to the computer, the user still requires ucgather.exe.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ucgather.exe. is used by IBM Update Connector, If you shut down ucgather.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ucgather.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is IBM Update Connector, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as IBM Update Connector, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
