The tvservice.exe file is an EXE application resource process distributed with other executable program files, certain SYS driver processes, some DLL (Dynamic Link Library) modules, particular background process items and various associated components that are used and referenced by the MediaPortal software. This is a Windows program classified as a multimedia application developed by Team MediaPortal with a set of features for viewing audio and video content, listening to Internet radio, recording TV shows and video streams among other functionalities that can allow users to convert their Windows-based workstations into multimedia center systems or home theater PCs. The tvservice.exe process is specifically deployed as a component of the TV Service module, which is built into the Media Portal open source software. This means the tvservice.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation and configuration of the MediaPortal program, and the tvservice.exe process operates in the background when the Media Portal application is actively running in the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. tvservice.exe. is used by MediaPortal and MediaPortal TV Service Module, If you shut down tvservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop tvservice.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is MediaPortal and MediaPortal TV Service Module, from your system.
