Tpsmain.exe is process file installed with the components of Toshiba laptop drivers in its power saving management functions by automatic transition to power-saving mode after a specific period of inactivity. Its main function is to extend the time consumed under battery mode by providing the user dual power management modes to allow configuration of settings while on battery as well as when running under the AC Adapter. The default settings in battery mode provide reasonable performance and longer battery life where users can set the computer’s LCD backlight to turn off when not in use, decreasing the power drain. Other features include settings control or clock speed reduction by reducing processor speed to decrease power demand and to lower performance as well as display brightness resolution of the LCD which can be adjusted and set to a preferred time and to turn the backlight off when there is not activity on the laptop.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. tpsmain.exe. is used by Toshiba Laptop Drivers, If you shut down tpsmain.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop tpsmain.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Toshiba Laptop Drivers, from your system.
